Intermediate Class

One Step at a Time

Sailors will expand on their knowledge of boat handling techniques and will begin racing and close quarter drills. Some prior sailing experience is required.  The student is expected to be able to rig and sail an N10 or Opti without an instructor in the boat and control the boat in low to medium wind with confidence.  They must be able to name all the parts of the boat and have a good understanding of the function of each part.  They must be able to avoid collision.  Terminology is emphasized.  Spinnakers are introduced. Sailors will be introduced to Lasers and 420s. Many sailors at this level gain skills and confidence by crewing for advanced sailors.
